On November 6th during the network meeting of the Serbian Heads of Urban Planning Departments at the Hotel Zira, Belgrade, representatives of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the GIZ-AMBERO team presented the National Land Use Code (NLUC) for Serbia as a product of the successful cooperation of the Ministry with the GIZ / AMBERO Land Management Project to all present representatives of Serbian cities and municipalities. About 120 participants from all parts of Serbia attended the event.
With the publication of the NLUC, an important step towards the modernization of the Serbian planning system and its adaptation to EU standards is made. For the first time in Serbia uniform standards for the definition of land uses as well as for planning symbols for all types of municipal spatial and urban plans have been developed and presented. At the same time, the NLUC aligns the land uses with the requirements of the EU Inspire Directive, thus making an important contribution to EU rapprochement. It also provides important prerequisites for the development of an e-planning system as a subcomponent of a comprehensive e-government strategy pursued by the Government of Serbia.
