Palic Conference APPS

The GIZ project supported the “Serbian Association of Spatial Planners” (APPS) in their annual conference, which this year took place in the City of Subotica.

One of the topics of the conference was climate change and the impact on planning regulation and protection of space. Two experts from Germany presented their experience made in Germany with this new challenging issue. First Mr. Klaus Hoppe from the City of Freiburg showed how climate related issues can be considered in urban development planning and construction. In a second presentation Mr. Jens Libbe from the German Institute for Urbanism (DIFU) reported on the German Initiative „ National Platform Future City”, an agenda process with broad participation of stakeholders from scientific institutions, administration and industry with the aim to develop German Cities in the direction of CO2-neutrality.

In a special session the project together with association of spatial planners presented the new, jointly published “Guide for Strategic Environmental Assessment” to the public.
